Homemade focaccia (Italian bread)
Focaccia is a typical Italian bread that you can prepare yourself at home from a few ingredients. And in the finale, it’s up to you how you enjoy it.
WHAT YOU NEED
(10 SERVICES):
- 500 g – plain flour
- 400 ml – warm water
- 1 packet of dried yeast
- salt – 2 and 1/2 teaspoons
FOR DECORATION:
- 50 ml – olive oil
- provencal herbs
- dried tomatoes
- sliced olives
- garlic
HOW TO DO IT:
- Weigh the flour and add measured warm water to the flour.
- Sprinkle with dry yeast and salt.
- Knead the dough. If you have a robot, you can use a robot, but your hands will suffice.
- Knead until bubbles start to form in the dough. The dough will be sticky. Which is good, because in the end it will be more airy and supple.
- Add herbs, olives and sun-dried tomatoes to the dough. Try to add everything with a minimum of oil.
- Now take a second, even larger bowl and pour boiling water into it. Put the smaller one with the dough in a bowl and cover with a cloth. The dough will rise faster, in about 30 minutes.
- Line the baking sheet with baking paper. Then transfer the dough to paper, lightly brush your hands and spread the dough. The dough should be 1.5 to 3 cm thick.
- Cover the dough with a cloth and leave to rise for another 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, the surface will be slightly dry. At this point, make dimples in the dough.
- Pour olive oil on the dough.
- Salt with coarse salt, bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C and bake for about 20 minutes. Watch the color, it must be golden.
